Karl Lagerfeld's final collection for Fendi was shown at Milan Fashion Week, and the fashion house paid tribute to the designer who passed away this week.

"The Fendi women's autumn/winter 2019 collection is the final collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld, representing a lifetime of dedication and creation from 1965 until today," the show notes read. "In his perpetual search for beauty and innovation, Karl's commitment to his craft never waned."

Gigi Hadid closed the show to a standing ovation, and fellow models Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber and Adwoa Aboah also walked.

Lagerfeld is known by most for his work at Chanel, but had actually designed for Fendi for longer. He joined the brand in 1965, meaning he spent 54 years with the company, whereas he was with Chanel for 36.

He also designed for his own eponymous label.

Fendi paid tribute on their social media accounts to the designer, who is said to have been working on the collection up until his death. They shared a video interview with the designer

They also wrote: 'Immensely affected by his passing, Fendi wishes to celebrate Karl's unparalleled creativity and timeless legacy during today's Fall-Winter 19-20 fashion show.'

Those attending the show were left in tears during the final walk.

Lagerfeld's final collection for Chanel is due to be shown during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday 5 March.
