Amazon Prime is partnering with Warner Bros Germany on its first German language film with the feature adaptation of cult German TV series Bullyparade. The e-commerce giant will partner with German star Michael Bully Herbig’s banner herbX Film and Warner Bros’ German division for the project, which will be screened exclusively on Amazon’s streaming platform six months after its theatrical release. The film version of the series comes two decades after the original premiered on Germany’s ProSieben. Co-stars Rick Kavanian and Christian Tramitz return to the cast, and will also co-write the screenplay with Herbig and Alfons Biedermann.
The feature project comes only weeks after Amazon revealed it had inked a deal with German actor and filmmaker Matthias Schweighofer to produce the thriller Wanted as an Amazon Originals TV series. That will be a co-pro between Schweighofer’s company Pantaleon Entertainment and Warner Bros.
Both Amazon and Netflix have been expanding their local language activities in recent months across film and TV. Amazon is partnering with BBC Worldwide on Lookout Point’s period fashion drama, The Collection, an eight-part series, set in the world of French haute couture just after the Second World War. It will launch exclusively in 2016 for Amazon Prime viewers in the UK. The series is created, written and executive produced by showrunner Oliver Goldstick (Ugly Betty).
