CT Surgeon Closes the Gap for Those Called to Military Service

Stanislaw Facial Plastic Surgery Center Offers 10% Discount for Earlobe Repair to Meet Enlistment Requirements

The earlobe is not an area of human anatomy most people give much thought. However, for those hoping to enlist in the armed services or in law enforcement, that small flap of tissue suddenly takes on big significance. Dr. Paul Stanislaw, double-board certified facial surgeon and founder of Stanislaw Facial Plastic Surgery Center, is on a mission to ensure anyone who wishes to serve will not be disqualified due to the strict physical military enlistment requirements prohibiting ear gauges or other major earlobe perforations.

Dr. Stanislaw offers a ten percent discount to all military and law enforcement for earlobe reconstruction procedures, not just on Veterans’ Day, but year-round.

“Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of the surgery as it’s considered a cosmetic procedure,” said Dr. Stanislaw. “I have the utmost respect for the men and women who demonstrate the desire to protect our communities and our country and want to help them achieve their career dreams.”

Regulations for all branches of the U.S. armed forces prohibit more than one piercing per ear and noticeably stretched earlobes, most often caused by ear gauges or excessive use of heavy earrings. According to the 2014 Army Regulation 670-1, any earlobe holes that exceed 1.66 mm disqualify a member from service.

But the effects of ear gauging and stretching are not irreversible. “Whereas stretching the ear’s skin may take months or even years for permanent holes to remain, this particular ear repair surgery is considered a walk-in procedure. Local anesthetics are injected and depending on the extent of the defect, the procedure can take anywhere from an hour to several hours. Sutures come out in 1-week. There is little to no discomfort with this procedure,” said Dr. Stanislaw.

The ease of the ear repair is good news not just for military and law enforcement hopefuls, but for recent college graduates wishing to cultivate more job prospects with a professional business appearance, brides-to-be and members of the bridal party, and women who, through the natural aging process, wish to regain youthful appearance by tightening and shortening lengthened lobes. Furthermore, a patient needn’t sacrifice fashion for beauty. After allowing six weeks for the reconstructed site to heal, a patient may return to the center for re-piercing which is complimentary with this procedure.

Costs of earlobe repair surgery vary and a $100 consultation fee is applied to procedures over $1,000. The Stanislaw Facial Plastic Surgery Center does not participate with any insurances, though Dr. Stanislaw and his certified staff do engage in medically-correlated procedures like post-cancerous reconstruction or keloid removal.

“Each patient comes to us with a story and a dream,” said Stanislaw. “Whether that dream will be framed in a wedding album or added to our military and law enforcement’s legacy of duty and service, it is my privilege to help see those dreams into a reality.”
