Centerville house burglary nets jewelry, handbags

On Nov. 13 at about 3 p.m., Fremont Police Department officers responded to a residential burglary on Shasta Street near Thornton Avenue.

Police said sometime between 1:20 p.m. and the time of the call someone forced open the home’s front door, entered and stole miscellaneous jewelry and handbags.

No suspects are known in this case, police said.

Burglars steal jewelry, currency from home

On Nov. 13 at about 2:30 p.m., police responded to a residential burglary on Darwin Drive.

That day, between 11:45 a.m. and the time of the call, someone entered the home through an unlocked and open kitchen window. The burglars stole assorted jewelry, iPads, U.S. currency and handbags, police said.

No suspects are known in this case.

Attempted residential burglary in Brookvale

On Nov. 13 at about 1 p.m., police responded to a residential burglary incident on Cade Drive, south of Driscoll Road.

That afternoon, a man rang the home’s doorbell several times and attempted to open the front door of the residence. The homeowner did not answer the door, police said.

The suspect was able to eventually force open the front door. Once the door was open, the suspect left the area on foot. The homeowner contacted a neighbor an hour later, who then contacted the police. No loss was determined.

The suspect was partially described as a tall African-American man with an average build, unknown age, wearing a blue plaid shirt, police said.

Missing disabled man found safe at Hub

On Nov. 13, police responded to the report of a missing, mentally handicapped 61-year-old man who had walked away from his care home on Sundale Drive.

The man was not reported missing for a few hours until staff realized he was gone. An extensive search was conducted, police said.

After about four hours, the missing man was finally located at Safeway at the Fremont Hub shopping center, police said.

Chain snatch robbery in Glenmoor probed

On Nov. 13, police responded to a strong-arm robbery that occurred near Country Drive

That day, a man approached a woman in that area and ripped a gold chain necklace from her neck. The suspect fled on foot on Country Drive toward Fremont Boulevard, police said.

The suspect was described as a black man in his mid-20s, with a slender build, wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes, police said.

Suspicious vehicle spotted in MSJ

On Nov. 12 at about 1:15 p.m., police responded to the call of a suspicious vehicle seen near Via San Gabriel and Camino Santa Barbara, west of Mission Boulevard.

Police said the caller stated an older white Chevrolet Tahoe, lowered with a loud muffler, was seen driving through the area. The caller believed the Tahoe’s occupants, a Hispanic man and a Hispanic woman, could be casing the area for deliveries since a Fed Ex truck had just been through.

However, the suspicious vehicle left the area prior to police arrival.

Fremont Police Department reminds citizens that as the holiday season approaches, thieves will be on the lookout for opportunities to steal packages. Electronics stolen during house burglary

On Nov. 12 at about 11:25 a.m., police responded to a residential burglary on Siward Drive, south of Paseo Padre Parkway.

Police said burglars used a large rock to shatter the home’s rear sliding glass door. The suspects stole several electronic items.

No suspects are known in this case, police said.
