Waukegan walking tours tell the Ray Bradbury story

The Waukegan History Museum of the Waukegan Park District and the Waukegan Historical Society has two free guided walking tours on Saturdays, Oct. 19 (ID #4595) and Oct. 26 (ID #4596), that tell the story of one of Waukegan’s favorite sons, author Ray Bradbury.

On the walk, you’ll experience Waukegan through the unique writings of Bradbury.

Walk the streets of the author’s “Green Town” on a guided tour of downtown Waukegan. The places, people, and events from Bradbury’s fictional Green Town (Waukegan) books “Dandelion Wine,” “Farewell Summer,” and “Something Wicked This Way Comes,” as well as some of short stories, will be highlighted.

These free guided walking tours start promptly at 10 a.m. at the Waukegan Park District’s Ray Bradbury Park, 41 North Park Ave., Waukegan. The tour will include extensive walking and stairs. A shuttle bus will return participants back to Bradbury Park at the conclusion of the tour. It is recommended that participants park on Washington Street.

For all walking tours, dress accordingly with comfortable walking shoes and also bring something to drink. Tours will be canceled if raining or other inclement weather.
