A Harlem woman is suing MAC Cosmetics after she allegedly contracted herpes from a lipstick that a MAC representative applied to her at a pop-up shop earlier this month.

The NY Daily News reports Starkeema Greenidge attended a Rihanna concert on May 7 at the Barclays Center when the offending incident occured. Greenidge stopped into a MAC pop-up and allowed an employee to rub RiRi Woo, a ruby red shade of lipstick endorsed by Rihanna, onto her upper lip - straight from the tube. The rep then told her to 'press her lips together and spread the lipstick around,' it says in the suit.

Two days later, Greenidge developed a cold sore, which her doctor later diagnosed as herpes. She states in the suit that the disease has lead to 'mental anguish and emotional distress.'

This serves a cautionary tale for the beauty buffs who test products in stores without using swabs. Makeup containers are breeding grounds for germs.
