Racing fans are in for a treat, as the NASCAR Sprint Showdown gets underway at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 15, 2015.

The event promises to be a very intriguing one, as the garage opens 7:00 AM ET, while the qualifying rounds begins at 4:15 PM ET.

The format for the qualifying rounds will consist of a session of two rounds, with the first one being of 20 minutes to decide the 12 fastest racers, after which they will move on to the next round.

In the second round, qualifying will be much shorter as it will only take up five minutes. During this time, the racers' fastest single lap will determine their order from 1 to 12.

The race finally begins at 7:15 PM ET and will consist of two segments making up 20 laps each. The winners of each segment will move on to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Aside from finishing first in the two segments, a driver can also move on to the All-Star Race if he is chosen as the winner in the Sprint Fan Vote, which will be revealed after the completion of the Sprint Showdown.

After that, the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race will be held, with the qualifying rounds on May 16, 2015 at 7:10 PM ET.

The laps will be three timed and include one four-tire pit stop. For this, the aggregate total time will determine the starting lineup for the race itself.

The race starts at 9:00 PM ET.

It will consist of five segments, with the first four having 25 laps each.

Only the fifth segment will be shorter with 10 laps.

Racers will try to get the fastest time through the first four segments, regardless of whether it is a yellow or green flag.

However, only green flag laps will count in the fifth segment.

The order of the cars after the four segments will determine their order in the final segment.
