Nice try Critics’ Choice. Following the rampant success of comedian and host Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie at the 2014 awards show, the 2015 Critics’ Choice Awards attempted to make similar social media magic during its 20th annual show in Los Angeles Thursday night.

As part of his opening skit, TV host Michael Strahan pulled in Critics’ Choice nominee and 2015 Oscar contender “Wild” actress Reese Witherspoon to pose for a selfie. Her husband, entertainment agent Jim Toth, also joined in on the fun.

The photo, which was posted to the Critics’ Choice official Twitter page, was reportedly the first of many posted to the account Thursday evening during the live ceremony. According to Strahan, iPads have been placed on every table at the awards show allowing stars and their guests to share photos throughout the night.

"It's called our social centerpiece," Strahan told viewers. "It's going to feel like you're right here with us!"

After Witherspoon shared her photo, the cast of the animated film “Big Hero 6” also contributed to the Twitter page. In the image, actors Jamie Chung, Ryan K. Potter and Genesis Rodriguez can be seen.
