‘American Sniper’ widow says much of Jesse Ventura’s $1.8 million award coming out of her pocket

With “American Sniper” due for wide release Christmas Day, the widow of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle spoke with Fox News host Gretchen Carlson and countered the claim by renowned heel Jesse Ventura that insurance will cover the $1.8 million award he won in his lawsuit against her late husband.

“I think insurance is responsible for $500,000 because of the way the law is written,” Taya Kyle said, indicating the rest will come out of her own pocket.

Kyle has appealed the jury’s decision and the case is still pending.

Not content with taking money from Kyle’s widow and two children, Ventura is also suing publishing giant HarperCollins, which published Kyle’s best-selling book, “American Sniper,” according to The Washington Post.

In the 2012 book,  Kyle described a bar fight in which he decked a man he called “Scruff Face” for allegedly saying the Navy SEALs “deserve to lose a few.” Kyle later said this person was Ventura, who denied the incident took place and filed a defamation lawsuit to clear his name.

Raw emotions bubble to the surface throughout Kyle’s interview with Carlson, and she is slow to forgive the man who killed her husband — Iraq War veteran Eddie Ray Routh.

Kyle expressed support for veterans who suffer from PTSD, but is skeptical about this being the cause of Routh’s actions and told Carlson to look at his actions before he joined the military.

“I don’t buy it. I don’t think it’s appropriate,” Kyle said of Routh’s mental issues. “I think it’s a very lame excuse for horrible behavior.”
