Girls U12B

The Seahawks Girls U12B team had a memorable game Sunday vs second- place Milton.  Milton gained a quick four-goal lead, but the Seahawks never quit.

Janey Smith buried a pass from Tessa Burgess & Stella Spaulding to get the Seahawks on the board late in the firstt period.

The second period was scoreless as goalie Molly Thompson turned away all shots and Grace Connelly, Haley McCarthy, Nora McCarthy, Abagail McMellen and Audrey Booras cranked up the defense.

The third period started like the first where Milton was able to get a couple of quick ones, but Emily Murphy went out and rifled two shots by the Milton goaltender on consecutive shifts with set ups from line mates Elizabeth Falvey and Brooke DiBona.

Falvey tucked home a rebound to get the girls within two.  With two minutes left, the coaches pulled Molly Thompson for an extra skater, but Milton was able to score late and secure the win.

The biggest story of the day, however, wasn’t the game, but the surprise that awaited Brooke DiBona and the U12Bs.

Brooke, a first year player, was inspired to play hockey after being part of “Team Impact” and was healthy enough to play this year.

Brooke was diagnosed with leukemia when she was seven, and many, many months of treatments followed. After a lengthy battle with this horrible disease Brooke came out on top.  She joined the “Team Impact” family during her recovery.

The organization matches children with serious illness to a local college athletic team.

The Boston College Women’s Ice hockey team became her new extended family.  She and her family have become very close with the coaches and players of BC over the last couple of years.  The DiBonas have become huge supporters of the BC Women’s Ice Hockey team and last Sunday they had a chance to return some of that hockey support.

As a surprise, 18 members of the Eagles drove to the Canton Sportsplex and stayed out of sight then waited for Brooke and the U12Bs to leave the locker room before they erupted in cheers as the girls took to the ice.

The BC ladies gave the girls (and coaches) fist pumps and high fives as they entered the ice and continued to cheer all game and held up handmade posters for Brooke and the Seahawks. Even the ref’s heard the love.

They got louder as the Shehawks were making their comeback right until the final buzzer. The game ended with the Eagles coming on the ice and giving all the players high fives and taking a picture.

It was a special treat and a huge inspiration for Brooke and her entire team.

The Seahawks thank BC Women’s Ice Hockey team and wish them good luck in their quest to be national champs.

Squirt B2 White

The Seahawks Squirt B2 White team took their unbeaten streak to 13 games with a 7-1 victory over KPW at Raynham IcePlex Sunday. The Seahawks were solid all game beating KPW to the loose pucks and creating plenty of offensive chances and eliminating chances for KPW.  Joey Cannon lead the offense with four goals. Jake Cara Donna, Kevin Norton and Michael Fleming each added one. The Seahawks saw some fine passing as well, as David Menges and Gridska Flynn had 2 assists each and Michael Fleming and Jake Cara Donna each had one.

The defense was solid once again with Lawrie Quinn, Kyle Melville, Sarah Francis and Darrey Smith all backed by goaltender Thomas McMellen.

Squirt C

The Seahawks Squirt C team got back on the winning track by a score of 6-3 against Plymouth this past Saturday.

Having a well-rounded team proved to be successful as defensive minded players stepped up playing offense and offensive minded players proved to be mighty capable of playing defense. Adam Long in net once again showed why he is considered one of the top goalies in the league.  Goal scorers for the Seahawks were Jake O’Malley, Deming Randolph (2 goals), Anthony Dirubbo, Jake Mullen and Nick Tramontozzi.

Mite B White

The Seahawks Mite B White team had a solid 5-2 win over Milton this past Sunday. Goal scorers for the Seahawks were Brendan Ryan, Peter Cappadonna, John Truglia, and Barret Kelly.  Will Reilly continues to prove himself as a confident and sure netminder.

Mite B Blue

The Seahawks Mite B Blue team played in the Cape Cod Classic Tournament this past weekend. Their first game was against Hingham on Friday morning. Despite having only eight players (including last minute call-up, Griffin Lochiatto), the Seahawks tied the game at 2 when Michael Chatterton got his second of the game with 1.9 seconds left in the second period.

Hingham wore the Seahawks down in the third, and the game ended 6-2.

Luke Ryan was outstanding in goal.

Saturday, they played the host team (and eventual tournament champion) Coyotes, who came out flying. Despite great two-way effort by Cooper McDonald, Christian Dyer, Ben Bartley and Matt Bellucci, the team lost 8-1.

Tyler Mikus made 17 stops in net. Michael Chatterton scored for the Seahawks.

The final game came against conference foe Hanover.

The Seahawks were ready from the start.

Early on, Owen Lochiatto made a key stop in goal. Luke Ryan then scored, followed quickly by goals from Marion Legge and Jack Campbell.

Finn Murphy, who was flying all weekend, was once again snake bitten, as he was stopped on several breakaways.

Christian Dyer and Tyler Mikus added to the lead, and Luke Ryan scored two more for the hat trick as the Seahawks won 7-1. Despite suffering an off-ice injury, Bohdie Smith made the trip to cheer on his teammates.

Mite C Blue

Mite C Blue kicked off the first round of their four-game round robin playoff this past Sunday in style with a solid win over Pembroke 6-0.

Fiona Faherty in goal turned away with ease the few shots that came her way.

The offense was clicking on all cylinders right off the bat when Shane McDonough grabbed the puck at center ice and confidently skated in on the goalie leading to a flurry of activity and, eventually, a goal.  Ryan Hoover exploded on offense with two goals. Tommy Scully broke free, and ripped a shot off to add one more.  Robert Malinowski continues to have a tremendous year, showing his versatility by playing D.  While shutting down all offensive attacks that came his way, he found time to score a hat trick.

Mite C White

The Seahawks Mite C White team won their first playoff game against Plymouth Green 4-1.  Jack Twombly had a goal and an assist and MJ Toth allowed only 1 goal in a great defensive team effort.

Ryan Johnson, Owen Hurley and Luke Spaulding also scored for Seahawks White.
