Pulaski County burglary suspect shot in head by homeowner dies at hospital

The man accused of burglarizing a home before being shot by the homeowner has died in the hospital.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's office says a homeowner shot William Auxier at around 5 a.m. at a home on Rocky Point Road off of Ky. 790 south of Bronston.

Auxier was airlifted to UK hospital suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies announced Friday afternoon Auxier had died as a result of his injury.

The shooting and burglary are still under investigation. The sheriff's office said there have been several burglaries recently in the area.
