PUNE: The Manmad railway police on Friday night rescued four minor girls of a PMC-run school at Gadital in Hadapsar, following a tip off from the Pune police.
The girls, who are students of std IX, were brought to Pune on Saturday afternoon and handed over to their parents. The girls had left their homes around 9am on Friday to appear for their last examination.
Instead of reaching the school, they rushed to the Pune railway station and boarded a train for Amravati.

After the girls failed to reach home, their parents panicked and lodged a missing persons' complaint with the Hadapsar police.
Sub-inspector Dattatraya Madane said, "We have recovered a chit from one of the girl's bag stating that she was fed up with the harassment from her parents and decided to run away. Three other girls having similar problems joined her."
"We collected details of their friends and started questioning them. One of the boys received a call from one of the girls, but he did not alert the police. During questioning, the boy received a call from the same girl again, following which we got alerted," Madane said.

"We convinced the boy to lie to the girl that he had also run away from his home and would like to join them. The boy contacted the girl, but she refused to disclose the details of her whereabouts. After the boy won her confidence, she disclosed that they were heading to Amravati. She and her friends agreed to wait for him at Manmad railway station," he added.
R M Mohite, senior inspector of Hadapsar police station, alerted the Manmad government railway police after tracing the girl's call locations. The railway police detained the girls on finding them at a ticket counter on Friday at 11.30pm.
A team led by assistant inspector Giridhar Yadav of Hadapsar police station rushed to Manmad and took the girls into custody. On reaching Pune on Saturday, the girls were let off with a warning, Mohite added.
