He is keen to bring Aberdeen frontman Adam Rooney to Tannadice but faces stiff competition from top-flight clubs.

Now he’s looking at former Celtic star Watt, 24, who is a free agent after leaving Belgian club OH Leuven back in February.

Watt, who has also attracted interest from south of the border, said: “I’ve been working hard during the close-season and I’m in good condition.

"It’s good to have options to consider.”
