A Pennsylvania Game Commission officer sustained a broken nose, but was well enough to be discharged from the hospital the same day he was assaulted while on duty in Schuylkill County, according to a commission spokesman.

UPDATE: State police on Tuesday afternoon said two man have been arrested and charged in the attack.

The assault took place at around 10 a.m. Saturday at a hunting access point near Saint Clair about 60 miles northwest of Harrisburg. The game commission said the officer, whose name wasn’t released, was assaulted after he encountered two men who were operating all terrain vehicles on land that is closed to vehicles. The men fled after attacking the officer.

The game commission is continuing its public request for information leading to an arrest of the men responsible for the attack. Both men are described as about five-feet-ten with gray hair and gray facial hair and likely in their mid-50s. One is described as having a long goatee held with rubber bands.

Both of the ATVs were racing-type vehicles with loud exhausts, and one was orange and black, the game commission said. The assault took place along Peach Mountain Road.

State police based at Schuylkill Haven are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the station at 570-754-4600.
