Watch: Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said the video of one of his men was 'disturbing.'

MIAMI, FL — An 18-year veteran of the Miami-Dade police force was suspended Tuesday after video surfaced that allegedly showed the officer strike a handcuffed man in the face. Sgt. Manuel Regueiro will continue to collect his salary pending the results of a criminal investigation, according to Miami-Dade police.

In a statement, Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said that officials didn't hesitate to call for the investigation.

“The actions depicted in the video are extremely disturbing and in no way represent the core values of our agency," the director explained. "That is why, immediately upon learning of the video, we launched a criminal internal investigation into the matter in conjunction with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, which remains active and ongoing at this time."
