Phoenix Approves Rainbow Sidewalks For LGBT Support

LGBT organizations asked Phoenix officials to approve the projects, which won't cost taxpayers anything.

PHOENIX — After a unanimous vote in the City Council, Phoenix will display support for the local LGBT population by allowing LGBT organizations to paint two rainbow crosswalks in the city. The vote took place on Tuesday, according to reports.

The vote came as part of a nationwide trend of communities showing permanent support for LGBT people, after activist organizations asked Phoenix officials to approve the crosswalk changes, AZ Central reported.

Michael Fornelli, executive director of Phoenix Pride said the rainbow crosswalks help Phoenix to "thrive in our diversity and our inclusion."
