New Jerseyans miss out on $355 million lotto jackpot to 2 winners in Idaho, Washington, have chance to claim $250,000

LOTTO2.jpgPeople line up last night to buy tickets for the Mega Millions lottery at the Hudson News newsstand at the PATH Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City.

Yesterday's mind-blowing Mega Millions jackpot of $355 million will be split between two winners, according to Mega Millions.

The winning numbers were 4, 8, 15, 25, and 47 and the Mega Ball number was 42. Two tickets matching all the numbers were sold, officials say. One was in Idaho, the other in Washington, according to the Mega Millions website.

There is still hope, however, for the Hudson County players who dreamed of ways to spend any prize money they win.

According to Mega Millions, 3 New Jersey tickets match the five white ball numbers (4, 8, 15, 25, and 47) but not the Mega Ball number. The prize amount listed for this category is $250,000, a fixed amount that will be paid to 67 winners this drawing.

Yesterday, Carole Hedinger, acting director of the New Jersey Lottery, appeared at the J & V Newsstand on Hudson Place in Hoboken to pronounce the historic amount.

Players throughout Hudson County and the entire country had mega-dreams for the cash prize. For example, Ross Kelly, a Tennessee native who moved to attend school in Jersey City, said he would buy "a fairly nice house" in "some exotic location" if he won the money.

He'd use the rest of the cash "sparingly," and if he had too much money, he'd "probably give a lot to charity," he said.
