Melissa McCarthy’s Perspective On Weight Loss Is So Insanely Relatable
“Somewhere in my 30s, I was like, 'I'm okay with who I am.’”
Melissa McCarthy is busier than ever. After surprising the cast of Season 16's RuPaul's Drag Race during last week's episode, the comedian is presenting at the 2024 SAG Awards this weekend. She'll be joined by the Devil Wears Prada trio Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, amongst other presenters; additionally, Jennifer Aniston will be giving the 59th SAG Lifetime Achievement Award to superstar actress, singer, writer, and director Barbra Streisand in a crossover of Hollywood legends.
Of course, this isn't the only time Melissa has graced the SAG stage—she's been nominated three times, twice for her work on 2011's Bridesmaids and once for 2019's Can You Ever Forgive Me? From making a name for herself on television with beloved roles on Gilmore Girls and Mike and Molly to becoming a bonafide movie star in films like Ghostbusters and The Little Mermaid, Melissa continues to be an inspiration for women in comedy. But the mom of two is also incredibly relatable when it comes to talking about weight loss and body positivity.
Melissa has repeatedly spoken out about scrutiny on her weight, as well as what she does to be mentally and physically healthy—on her own terms. Here’s all the honest—and of course, hilarious—things Melissa has shared about her weight loss journey.
