Man Charged with DUI, Driving Recklessly: Police

Police spotted a car being driven erratically on Route 7.

WILTON, CT — Police in Wilton charged a Danbury man with DUI last week.

Officers observed a car being driven erratically northbound along Route 7 on Saturday at around 7:45 p.m. The police investigated and discovered that the driver, John Stalin Herrera-Mendieta, 34, of Sixth Road in Danbury, was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Mendieta was areested and transported to police headquarters in Wilton , where he was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License (2nd Offense), and Failure to Drive in Proper Lane. He was released on $260 cash bond, and scheduled to appear in court date on Nov. 20.
