Wethersfield Dump Truck Crash Takes Life of New Britain Man: Update
The truck went into a wooded area off I-91, state police said.
WETHERSFIELD, CT — A dump truck careened off a section of Interstate-91 northbound right before the morning commute on Friday, killing the driver, state police said.
State police identified the man as Kevin Lockery, 36, of New Britain.
The truck, a 2005 Peterbilt tri-axle, was owned by T&T Auto of 75 North St., Manchester.

The crash took place at 3:55 a.m. along the corridor near exits 26 and 27, state police said. The truck went off the side of the road and crashed into a wooded area off the right shoulder, state police said. It rolled over several times down an embankment and came to rest about 100 yards from the highway, according to a crash report.
Firefighters and an EMS crew arrived at the scene and extricated Lockery from the truck, according to a crash report. He was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, state police said.

He was the only person in the truck, according to a crash report.
State Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed a smashed guardrail at the scene and vehicles backed up for miles with the right and center lanes closed. The road was opened back in full at about 9 a.m., state police said.
State police said cause of the crash is being investigated. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash can call the Troop H barracks at 860-534-1000, ext. 6032.
