All-Area bowling teams picked for the season

This being the last bowling column for the year, it is when I pick the All-Area teams for the men and women, which are based solely on the honor rolls for the year.

For the women, a 600-649 gets one point, 650-699 gets two points and a 700 and up receives three points for series. For individual games, 230-269 receives one point, 270-289 gets two points and 290-300 receives three points.

The captain for the first team is Shannon Orcutt, who tallied 76 points. Joining her on the team are Cassie Reimann (58), Amy Wentzlaff (51), Lisa Schleicher (49) and Denise Czech-Schwandt (47).

The second team is captained by Kris Shover, who totaled 45 points. Joining her on the team are Diane Meyer (41), Amber Orcutt (36), Tracy George (32) and Andrea Moeller (28). Bowlers just short of making the team are Brianna Reimann, Barb Churchill, Vikki Dullinger, Ashley Stueve and Anne Mehr.

For the women there were two perfect games by Kris Shover and Amy Wentzlaff and a 299 by Diane Meyer. There were 294 games of 230 and up this year and a total of 351 series of 600 and up for the year.

For the men's teams, I assigned one point for games of 270-289 and series of 700-749 and two points for games of 290-299 and series of 750-799. Three points were awarded for a 300 game and 800 series.

Captaining the first team is Bill Faerber, who, without a doubt, had the best season with 63 points. Joining Bill on the first team are Jose Uvero Jr. (47), Shawn Thielen and Andrew Benson (44) and Craig Schiffler (39).

The second team is captained by Eric George (37), Brady Stearns and Ryan Schleicher (35), Tim Neumann (34) and Brandon Reese (33). Just missing the teams were Brian Reimann, Lance Hengel, Mike Theis, Rod Neuenschwander, Josh Hengel and Bruce Solt.

For the men we had 564 games of 270 and up with 56 perfect games and 23 299 games. We had a total of 1023 series of 700 and up with 28 800 series.

It is almost impossible for a once-a-week bowler to make the team and I do know that, but I have tried to give the scores a valid point total.

Honor Counts

Jose Uvero Jr. rolled his third perfect game of the season in the Stearns County League at Southway Bowl. Jose had games of 300-268-199 for a 767 series.
