Suspect Charged With Murder In Fatal Pacific Beach Stabbing

SAN DIEGO — A murder charge was filed Wednesday against a man accused in a fatal stabbing last summer outside a Pacific Beach convenience store.

Desmond Alejandro Williams, 32, was arrested in National City on Tuesday for allegedly killing 40-year-old Sean Paul Snellman during an argument at a 7-Eleven in the 4300 block of Mission Boulevard on June 22, according to San Diego police.

The pair got into a shouting match for unknown reasons in the neighborhood just south of Crystal Pier shortly after 1 that morning, San Diego County Crime Stoppers reported. During the argument, Williams allegedly stabbed Snellman repeatedly, then fled.

Deputy District Attorney Frederick Washington Jr. said Snellman was unarmed during the altercation, which ended with him being stabbed multiple times.

Medics took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not disclose how they identified Williams as Snellman's alleged killer, nor the nature of their dispute.

Williams faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted of the murder charge and a knife use allegation. He's being held in lieu of $2 million bail and is due back in court Nov. 22 for a readiness conference.
