The A2070 in Ashford has been closed in both directions after a serious crash this afternoon (November 19).

The road was shut off between Finn Farm Road and the A2042.

Traffic was queuing on the approach to the incident near Ashford Services.

An air ambulance landed at the scene at around 12.20pm.

'Road is reopening'

A driver at scene has told Kent Live the road has been cleared and is now reopening. Kent Police has yet to confirm this.

The A2070 Bad Munstereifel Road southbound carriageway has reopened and traffic has returned to normal after a vehicle overturned between Barrey Road and The Boulevard/Waterbrook Avenue. The vehicle has now been removed.

There is a knock-on effect from the two incidents. There is congestion on the M20 to J10, A20 (Ashford South) near the Argos Ashford Retail Park.

An eyewitness said:

The air ambulance left at 1.30pm.


“The road is still closed now and traffic is being redirected through Bridgefield and Park Farm.


“I have spent an hour outside redirecting traffic as the housing roads are all getting blocked up.


“The police are still at the scene of the accident.


“There is no one in the two cars that have crashed but there is still an ambulance on site.”

Fire crews called to separate incident on same road

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said:

Two people have been rescued from their vehicle following a crash at the Sheepfold Lane exit of the A2070 near Ashford.


“Crews worked with paramedics to stabilise the casualties before removing them to an ambulance for further treatment.”

Two serious injuries now reported

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said:

Firefighters were called to the scene of a crash involving two vehicles near the Bridgefield roundabout on the A2070 outside Ashford.


“Crews using hydraulic rescue equipment worked with paramedics and HEMS doctors to create space to assess and treat two casualties.


“Both casualties have been airlifted to hospital by the Kent Air Ambulance.”

One person has been seriously injured

Kent Police has confirmed that one person has been seriously injured in the crash. A spokesman said:

Kent Police was called at 11.50am on 19 November following a collision on the A2070 near Kingsnorth, Ashford.


“The incident is reported to have involved two vehicles and at least one person is believed to have been seriously injured.


“Police and ambulance crews are at the scene as well as Kent Fire and Rescue.


“An air ambulance has taken one person to a hospital in London.


“Road closures are currently in place.”
