Blow for Arsenal? Benfica set to insert £65m buyout clause in Gunners target’s deal

Arsenal may have to splash out £65m to land Benfica target Goncalo Guedes after president Luis Filipe Vieira began negotiating a new deal to keep the 17-year-old at the club.

The Gunners have reportedly scouted the player but no deal is yet in place to bring the teenage sensation to England.

Guedes made his first team debut in Saturday's Portuguese Cup victory against S.C. Covilha and travelled with the Benfica squad to Monaco for their Champions League encounter this week.

The highly-rated youngster is attracting major interest around Europe and Arsene Wenger's men have been joined by German side Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan in the race to sign him.

However, fearing Guedes' departure, Vieira is expected to offer the striker a new, long-term contract lasting until June 2019, to ward off interest.

Benfiquistas have set Guedes' release clause at £65m, which could be a stumbling block for any bidding suitors.
