You can learn a lot about what to expect from August Burns Red by listening to its recent album, “Phantom Anthem,” which includes its Grammy nominated song, “Invisible Enemy.” There’s an undeniable sense of assertion about the album, a ferocity that never really lets up, but there’s also a sense of texture which sets the band apart, whether it be the lull caused by a tempo drop in “Coordinates” or the lovely guitar line in “Float," which unfolds into something more forceful. The richness in the music adds layers of beauty and complexity to the music beyond being merely hard-hitting (although it is that, too.)
