She has been famously dubbed 'The Body’ for her enviable physique.

But the usually bikini-clad Elle Macpherson was quite out of character on Sunday when she covered up her famed figure in a kaftan for a speed boat ride with pals.

Donning a white beach dress, the 51-year-old’s flawless frame was shielded from the sun as the boat glided along the azure blue waters off the Miami coast.

Basking in the sun: Model Elle Macpherson was quite out of character on Sunday during a boating trip, as she decided to cover up her legendary physique in a kaftan 

With her golden locks pulled back off her face into a chic updo, Elle took in the idyllic sights of the Florida coastline whilst chatting away to female friends.

Shielding her face from the glare of the bright sun with a pair of designer shades, the catwalk queen was effortlessly stylish and accessorised her summery ensemble with a simple gold necklace.

The Australian beauty let her flawless bronzed complexion speak for itself as she opted to go makeup free for the thrill seeking outing.

The supermodel was accompanied on board the water vessel by her billionaire husband Jeffrey Soffer and an elite group of friends.

The entourage included her father-in-law and American businessman Donald Soffer, nightclub mogul David Grutman, former American professional basketball player Rony Seikaly and his model wife Martha Graeff and their daughter Mila Seikaly.

Elle recently returned from a lavish Mediterranean yacht break with Jeffrey where she spent much of the time soaking up the sun in bikinis around St Tropez, Sardinia and Portofino.

Taking to Instagram, Elle couldn't help but showcase her lithe figure in an array of chic and stylish swimwear whilst holidaying there.

Making the most of her time on the yacht, the supermodel displayed her toned body in a range of bikinis and form-fitting ensembles whilst working on her tan.

Her marriage to Jeffrey, 45, is her second - she first tied the knot with Gilles Bensimon in 1986, though the pair would split three years later.

She has two children, 17-year-old Arpad 'Flynn' and 12-year-old Aurelius 'Cy', with a financier Arpad Busson, whom she began dating in 1996 and separated from in 2005.

Elle and Jeffrey began their relationship in 2009 and barring a six month break in 2012 have been together ever since, marrying in 2013, with the model becoming step-mother to his song Logan.

She admitted earlier this year in a frank interview on Sunrise that, just like most others, growing older has affected her confidence.

'It's one thing being 20 and gorgeous with legs up to your armpits and beautiful tight skin... and it's another to be 51,' she said.

'Finally you get to this stage and you say "I've been known to be one of the most beautiful women in the world," and felt really not confident and sure of myself.

'As I've matured I've realised that it doesn't really matter what I look like. The most important thing is how do I feel?

'When I started sleeping more and relaxing a bit more in my life and looking after my nutrition... good nutrition can change everything.

'I hadn't really understood how deprived my body was.'

Th Australian-born professional poser revealed she suffered a health scare when she discovered a lump in her breast on her 49th birthday.

‘I thought I had cancer,’ she revealed, adding: 'I was away shooting Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, so I couldn’t see my doctor and I was really panicking.

'It was four weeks before I got the biopsy results, so it was a long-drawn-out and stressful period of not knowing.

'I was lucky – it was a fibroadenoma [a benign growth of fibrous tissue], but it was a really big warning. 

'I did some soul searching and realised that maybe I was taking the wrong vitamins and minerals, not eating properly and was too stressed.’
