Eva Ayllón

Beloved Afro-Peruvian singer Eva Ayllón's latest CD, 'Kimba Fá,' is her 20th album, an overview of the various Peruvian styles that she sings with characteristic gusto.

From the the box drum and dual acoustic guitars that make the simple foundation of 'Música Criolla' to elaborate salsa arrangements, Eva weaves a powerful spell in her recasting of classics of the Afro Peruvian Songbook. Taught by her grandmother to sing from the age of 3, Eva started to define herself as a leading interpreter of 'Música Criolla' from the early 1970s. From 1979, she has been touring internationally and now lives in New Jersey.
