The author of the popular "Outlander" book series is donating her time for events across our state this week.

Diana Gabaldon will make several rare public appearances in New Bern and Burlington in support of the State Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

*Spoiler Alert*

In her fourth book, "Drums of Autumn", Gabaldon's protagonists find themselves living in America in the years leading up to the American Revolution.

Much of the book and parts of the upcoming fourth season of the show "Outlander" on the Starz network is set in North Carolina including at Tryon Palace in New Bern.

Tryon Palace is a state historic site and proceeds from events with Gabaldon will benefit its preservation.
