Students returned to the Curiale School in Bridgeport Monday with grief counselors, former faculty members and other community partners on hand to help them cope after a well-liked security officer unexpectedly died over the weekend.
Terra Holloway was commonly known as Ms. T. The cause of her death remained unavailable Monday.
"She was the heart and soul of Curiale School, and she will be missed," said Principal Brett Gustafson, who described her as a mentor and mediator. "I think calling her a security guard is a little bit -- a little misnomer, because she did everything here."
Holloway ran basketball camps, took kids to community events and bought lunch and clothes for at-risk students, he said. She worked at the school for about five years.
"Everyone loved T, so I think her legacy is the memories that everyone has about her and what she did for them," Gustafson said.
Friends and co-workers say she was committed to the students.
To remember her, students and staff members wrote notes on a wall inside the school.
The grief counselors would return Tuesday, Gustafson said.
