Paula Deen is cooking up something for Alabama.
The Savannah, Ga., celebrity chef and television personality has announced a deal with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians to bring her restaurant brand - Paula Deen's Family Kitchen - to the 520-acre OWA resort in Foley.
The Foley location will join a Panama City restaurant in the chain's rapid expansion, which includes locations in Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach, and Fairview and San Antonio, Texas.
No word on when the restaurant will open, but a retail store is also planned, selling exclusive Paula Deen merchandise.
In a video posted to Facebook, Deen said to fans, "It's a beautiful spot. I know it's one of those places where you and your family want to come and make memories. Hopefully, we can get open this summer."
Greg Rawls, Director of Business Development for Creek Indian Enterprises/OWA, said in a statement that the addition of the restaurant means that OWA is continuing "to build upon its vision of creating an authentic southern resort by sourcing top notch shopping, dining and entertainment experiences."
Phoenix Hospitality & Entertainment and its subsidiary, PD Restaurants, are associated with the project.
"We are confident that the consistent high-quality food and service of Paula Deen's Family Kitchen will be warmly embraced year around by the regional visitors and sports teams as well as residents of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Foley, Ala. alike," said Rajat Shah, Phoenix founder and CEO.
