KY3/KSPR’s On Your Side Consumer Multi-media Journalist Ashley Reynolds is the 2018 recipient of the Missouri Police Chiefs Association “Mary Phelan Media Award”. She was given the award at the MPCA’s banquet Thursday night in Jefferson City.

This award is given to a media professional that has demonstrated conduct and service to the public in reporting information that is both accurate and fair; a person who is professional, dedicated to public service on and off the job, and holds a steadfast commitment to integrity and fairness.

Ashley was nominated by the Nixa, Mo. Police Department for this honor. In his nomination, Major Joe Campbell from the Nixa Police Department said, “It would be our honor to nominate Ashley Reynolds for this award. As the Contact KY3 reporter, she has single handedly made our job in law enforcement easier. Almost on a daily basis, she reports on scams which effect the citizens of this area. By simply educating citizens on the dangers of these issues, she is reducing the number of people who fall victim to these criminals and therefore reduce the number of people who need police service.” He added, “Additionally, Ashley’s dedication to fair balanced reporting was evident when she took her own time to attend our citizens police academy. As a law enforcement professional, anytime someone is willing to take time to understand why law enforcement does what they do, I am always grateful. I have worked in law enforcement for 18 years and have encountered many news reporters. She is by far is the best reporter I have worked with.”

Bridget Lovelle, KY3/KSPR news director, also sent in a letter and examples of Ashley’s work to support her nomination for the award. She adds, “I’m proud of Ashley’s work every single day, especially when people in the community recognize how hard she works and how seriously she takes helping our viewers.”
