PG&E's public safety power shutoff has had a trickle-down effect on some of its Santa Cruz mountain customers who are without more than just electricity.Some of the Big Basin Water District customers began noticing their water service was down to a trickle last night. Today there wasn't even a drop. It's forced the closure of one of the community's most popular destinations and forced customers to get their water elsewhere."I've been here 40 years and this will be the first time we've had to close because of the fact we don't have water," said Bill Aragona, President & CEO of Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club.The links are open, but without any water, the restaurant and other facilities at the Golf Country Club were forced to close."As soon as we're out of water, our people can't do the things they need to stay legal to serve food. The bathrooms have to be closed and one-by-one, things happen and we can't function," said Aragona.About 580 homes in the Big Basin Water District are impacted by the shortage. Homeowner, Gregg Schlaman began noticing something was wrong Monday night."This side of the highway just has gravity feed. The other side has a tank at the top. So everything down low gets to keep water," said Schlaman. "I think we're going to bug out. I think we're going to go to a town that has water and stay there a couple of nights until this blows over," said Boulder Creek resident, Brenda Rogers.An electrician was working on a generator to address the problem, despite his diligent efforts he didn't know when the water service would be restored.Up along Big Basin Highway, a PG&E helicopter was hovering overhead inspecting transmission lines that run through Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties.Power has been restored to most customers in Santa Cruz County, water customers may have to play the waiting game."We're kind of hanging in there right now, in the feint hope everything comes back on again," said Aragona.We tried to reach the Big Basin Water district but could not get through to themPG&E plans another public safety power shutoff in Santa Cruz County.It's been moved up from 11 p.m. to 10 p.m. that'll impact 5400 customers including those living in Boulder Creek.
