MISSOULA – A group of businesses gathered over the weekend to bring some of the most advanced technology to Montana firefighters and other emergency responders.

Axmen employee Aaron Hansen says this kind of event is crucial when it comes to keeping our emergency crews safe year round.

“If you can make a little bit of a difference it can mean the difference between life and death. It can also really increase safety just in general it also makes it easier for you to do your job and the job is really important so any kind of improvement in performance everybody’s cracking on that,” Hansen said.

There were drones equipped with microphones so you could talk with victims waiting for rescue, demonstrations using some of the latest technology, and Snickers — a brand out of Europe, made an appearance to sell some of its apparel in person.

For many of the departments, it’s not always about updating to the latest and most expensive new equipment but instead its about meeting the needs of the individual department.

“Instead of buying a really expensive five sets, really they can get 10 sets of something less expensive, so it’s not just money and the most expensive gear. A lot of times it’s value and working through those issues with the departments, Hansen said.

The event — which was held at the University of Montana —  was open to the public.
