CLEVELAND, Ohio – Free dental care will be available at a two-day clinic at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

The services will be available beginning at 7 a.m. each day on Friday and Saturday. The event is organized by Medworks with support from the Famicos Foundation, Cuyahoga County Councilwoman Yvonne Conwell and Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell.

Screenings, extractions, cleanings and fillings will be available for adults. Children will be able to get sealant services.

Services will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

The event is important, Kevin Conwell said, because many people living in poverty do not have adequate dental care and that can have an impact on their overall health.

Among the medical conditions that have been linked to gum disease are stroke, heart disease, premature births and rheumatoid arthritis, according to NetWellness, a not-for-profit medical information website supported by the medical community at Case Western Reserve University, The Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati.

More information about the clinics is available online via Medworks.
