KERRVILLE, Texas - Next time you head to the Texas Hill Country, make sure you stop by these restaurants in Kerrville. Fine dining on the river offers a unique and relaxing experience for the whole family.

Alcapulco Mexican Food

Alcapulco offers delicious, authentic Mexican food. Painted with Mexican-inspired decor, there are two dining rooms that can accommodate large parties without having to wait forever to be seated. You'll love the enchiladas, tacos, fajitas - and many more traditional Mexican dishes.

I always order the crispy chicken tacos. They've got the perfect mixture of savory chicken, grilled onions and a crisp taco shell. Make sure to try out the cheese enchiladas, too. And don't forget to request the Alcapulco sauce - a sauce created by the original owner.

Mary's Tacos

Mary's Tacos has been voted the best breakfast taco in Kerrville and Boerne. (It's true! It's printed on your carry-out bag!) Breakfast tacos are served from 6 am to 1:30 pm.

What you need to know when you walk in is that Mary's Tacos is the rival to Rita's Tacos, which is also in Kerrville. They're owned by feuding sisters. So you've picked a side. You are on Team Mary.

The test of any great taco joint is how well they deliver on the basics. So start with the bean and cheese, which is super delicious and just the right amount of food to make you not over-full or too hungry.

Be sure to check out Mary's Tacos the next time you visit Kerrville because, believe me, it is worth the drive out!

Bella Vita Italian Restaurant

Overlooking the Guadalupe River is a a cozy Italian experience called Bella Vita.

The restaurant offers all the Italian staples, including chicken, seafood and steaks cooked perfectly and made fresh to order. A fireplace and wine display create a romantic atmosphere while you enjoy your dishes.

My personal favorites are the Chicken Parmigiana and Chicken Florentine. The crispy, warm Parmigiana will please even the most finicky connoisseur, and the creamy, cheesy Florentine is always enjoyable.

Mamacita's Restaurant

When you walk into Mamacita's you're instantly transported to a night in Old Mexico. It's a unique and creative atmosphere complete with a replica of the Alamo, as well as a painted night sky on the ceiling.

But don't be distracted by the ambiance, the food is good too! Mamacita's has a large and diverse menu, including enchiladas, tacos, fajitas and other classic Mexican dishes. Watch as the chefs handmake all of the torillas right in front of your eyes.

Must try: the chimichangas.
