The Chase star Anne Hegerty (aka The Governess) is mere hours away from venturing into the jungle for I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, yet she's already looking ahead to a future journey through time and space.

If Anne manages to conquer the Bushtucker Trials over the next few weeks, she's told Digital Spy in an exclusive interview that she'd like to branch off from slapping down contestants on The Chase with some acting roles.

"It would be lovely to do a bit of acting," she told us. "If anyone would like me to do some acting, I'd be up for it. But the thing is, I'm so busy. I just don't know where the time would come from.

"We've already got so much booked in for next year. I'm going to be coming back to Australia at a couple of points to do The Chase Australia, and we're going to be filming more episodes of The Chase [in the UK]. We've also recorded the second series of Britain's Brightest Family that we hope is going to go out at the beginning of next year. It would be great to get a third series, too. Obviously."

She went on: "I'm always interested in suggestions that I could be Miss Trunchbull [from Matilda]. The thing is, when Matilda is done on stage, it's always a bloke playing Miss Trunchbull, so maybe that won't happen.

"I'd love to be in a superhero movie or something. Not as a superhero, but as the grumpy secretary or something like that."

When we mentioned the possibility of her joining The Chase co-star Bradley Walsh in the TARDIS on Doctor Who, Anne thought it would be much more fun to face off with his character Graham and The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker).

"I think we would all love to do Doctor Who," she beamed. "I think we'd all love to be Slitheens. If you don't watch Doctor Who, you don't know who those are – but trust me, all fat actors want to be the Slitheen."

For those newer fans, the Slitheen were the rather, ermm, gaseous aliens who plotted to blow up Downing Street in the Ninth Doctor's two-part 'Aliens of London' and 'World War Three' — and then battled Anne's I'm a Celebrity co-star John Barrowman in 'Boom Town'.

Perhaps Anne can get some tips on how to play a Slitheen from John in the jungle…
