Emergency services are responding to reports of a serious crash near Alderley Edge.

Cheshire Police said the collision involved two cars and a van.

Ambulance paramedics and police are at the scene.

A police spokesman said it was too early to say whether anyone has been seriously injured and the scene was being assessed.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4pm

The collision happened on the new Alderley Edge bypass, Melrose Way.

Melrose Way has been closed as the emergency services investigate.

Cheshire Police said it received a number of 999 calls at around 4.08pm.

There are reports of heavy traffic in the area.

A witness said: “The bypass has been shut and there were an awful lot of ambulances at the scene. It looked to be serious.”
