Panel meets in Warren Co. to discuss drug addiction, prevention

As communities across the Miami Valley continue the fight against the uptick of fatal drug overdoses, a Warren County community has established a panel centered on drug prevention.

On Thursday, the panel of experts met at Waynesville High School to discuss the hidden signs of addiction, as well as prevention, what they say is the biggest tool to stopping more deaths.

“I'm here sharing my story so that another family doesn't suffer,” said Beth Renner, a panel member whose son died from a drug overdose in 2016. “There are kids right here in our neighborhoods that are dying and we need to come together as a community."

The panel also included doctors, law enforcement officers, and coroners.

"I'm very impressed with the panel that they were willing to come out and share these types of statistics and also that they brought the knowledge to us so we can see first-hand what they're doing," Kelley Purkey of Waynesville said.
