Country legend Loretta Lynn is back home and resting after she was hospitalized following an unspecified but “serious” health setback.
The singer, 86, has had several medical issues of late. In May 2017, she suffered a stroke, and earlier this year she broke her hip. On Saturday, relative Michael Lynn posted an update on her health on Facebook and asked fans to pray for her.
“I am very sad to report this morning that the Queen of Country Music, Ms. Loretta Lynn has had some setbacks in her recovery and is back in the hospital with some serious issues,” he wrote. “She needs our prayers right now, and the one thing I do know for sure is that she is a fighter and will not go down easy. PLEASE pray today for her.”
Lynn later posted an update on her official Facebook page, sharing her dismay at missing the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year event, where she was set to receive the Artist of a Lifetime honor. “I’ve watched the CMT show more than once now and am so proud of the amazing job all the girls did! I especially appreciated my sweet friend, Sissy [actress Sissy Spacek, who won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Lynn in the 1980 film inspired by Lynn’s song “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and was originally scheduled to present the trophy to Lynn], and thought she just made the show,” she wrote. “I can’t thank everyone enough for the kind words and this amazing award from CMT. I was so disappointed to have missed it because I was sick. After a brief hospital visit, I’m feeling better now and enjoying a weekend of resting up at home.”
