CAMDEN CO., GA (WTOC) - The mother of an infant who died last summer in Camden County after he was left in a hot car has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

District Attorney Jackie Johnson announced the sentencing of 29-year-old Rhae Odum of Camden County for murder in the 2nd degree. The charges stem from the June 2018 death of her infant son, Slade Edison Horne, at the Quality Inn on Robert L. Edenfield Drive in Kingsland.

Slade died of hyperthermia when he was left unattended in a closed automobile on a hot day.

Odum entered a guilty plea on Nov. 14, 2018 with sentencing scheduled for Feb. 6, 2019.

On Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Stephen D. Kelley sentenced Odum to serve 20 years in prison followed by 10 years on probation. Upon release she is to have no unsupervised contact with minors.
