Best Tattoo Parlors In Detroit Metro

There are plenty of places that Detroit area residents can go to get some ink, however, there are a few places that are a cut above the rest. This list represent five shops in the Detroit Metro Area that are stand outs either as award winners or because of their unique take on an ancient art form. They were chosen because of their commitment to professionalism and their pride in their work, and the artists at these shops showcase their passion in each work of art that passes through their doors.

Hours: Daily - 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.

5150 Ink is the only licensed tattoo shop in Detroit proper. Its artists each have 10 plus years of experience and they guarantee their work for life. 5150 never charges for touch ups and specializes in Detroit landmarks like the Detroit skyline, the GM Renaissance Center, Detroit D's, Spirit of Detroit, Ambassador Bridge and the People Mover.

Insider Tip: They offering "Game Day Specials" on any day a Detroit team is playing. $40 for an Old English D approximately 2" by 1" or Logos of favorite sports team, also $40. Also offer Free face painting for kids 12 and under.

Liquid Chaos has been in existence since 2001 and has two locations: one in Dearborn Heights and another in Brownstown, MI. Jared "Bull" Ammons, the owner, takes great pride in the work his artists produce. The website allows potential clients to peruse artists' portfolios to get a feel for each tattooists' quality and style and allows customers to get a feel for who they would like to work with. Some artists' strengths lie in black and gray while others work well in realism.

Named the "Best of Detroit" by Real Detroit, Elite Ink is a true community partner. Owner John Motyka founded Who Cares, a non-profit that encourages teens and young adults abstain from drugs and alcohol. Motyka also raised over $4,000 for the Pink Fund, which raises money for breast cancer patients. Elite Ink donated the time and the supplies to tattoo anyone who made a minimum $25 donation toward the cause. Elite Ink's art goes well below skin deep; it goes to the heart of the community to truly make a difference.

Time and again, Chico's name comes up when asking around for the best tattoo artist in the Detroit Metro Area. The hours at Tattoo Addicts are as unconventional as the artwork, and no two people leave with similar same art. Everyone who sees Chico at Tattoo Addicts receives something truly unique and exquisitely executed. Looking through his past work, there is no limit to what he does, from simple elegant anklet tattoos to full epic back tattoos.

Wonderland Tattoo hails from north of Detroit in St. Clare Shores. The shop has been in business since 1989 and customer care is the number one priority here. All of the shop's artists have training in first aid and CPR and work with their clients on creating unique and original designs. Wonderland's goal is to ensure that the client is happy with their tattoo for years to come. The shop offers free Wi-Fi to use your laptop to find the perfect design.
