Ringgold man killed in Red River Parish wreck

RED RIVER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A Ringgold man has died following a wreck in Red River Parish late Saturday night.

Louisiana State Police say they were called to the fatal crash at 11:45 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 1 south of US Highway 84.

Their investigation found that a 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by 33-year-old James R. Roberson of Ringgold, LA was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 1 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle he was driving traveled off the left side of the road into a ditch.  The Toyota then struck a tree and came to rest.

State police say Roberson was not properly restrained and was ejected from the Toyota. Roberson suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Red River Parish Coroner's Office.

Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
