A Metro Police officer who threatened to harm himself during an overnight barricade at a west valley home was arrested this morning on a count of resisting a public officer with a firearm, the agency said.

Officer Nathan Herlean, 39, was being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $5,000 bond, jail logs show.

The standoff, which originated about 10:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of Sonora Hill Court, ended this morning without further incident, police said.

Police responding to a report of a possible suicidal man near Charleston Boulevard and Desert Foothills Drive surrounded the house and tried to negotiate with Herlean, police said.

SWAT responded after officers thought they heard gunfire, but investigators later found no evidence of a shooting, police said.

Herlean, a 10-year veteran with Metro, was placed on paid administrative leave, police said.
