BETTENDORF — Carol Ann Broughton, 70, of Bettendorf, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Trinity Bettendorf. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service will preform the cremation. In lieu of a funeral service, a private Celebration of Life will be held.
Carol was born on March 22, 1947, in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of Lucy Jane (Yates) Broughton and Leo T. Broughton Sr., who resided on a farm in Shelbina, Missouri. During her primary grades, Carol attended a one-room K-8 school where the Broughton siblings comprised most of the students.
Carol worked as a beautician for many years and then in sales for a technical training firm. She enjoyed dogs, particularly her beloved miniature Yorkshire terrier, appropriately named Boss. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends at her apartment complex and drawing. Residents of her home at Spruce Hills Village expressed great enjoyment in their association with her and sorrow in her passing.
Survivors include her sisters, Jane Broughton of Davenport, Cathy Broughton of Hiawatha, Iowa, Barb (Craig) Hergenroether of St. Charles, Mo., Patricia Wahlheim of Hiawatha, Jackie Broughton of Rocklin, Calif., Mary O’Leary of Davenport; brothers, Don (Linda) Broughton of The Villages, Fla., Louie Broughton of Dallas, Texas, Leo Broughton Jr., of Cedar Rapids, Joe Broughton of Cedar Rapids, and John Broughton of Chambersburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Broughton; sister, Margaret “Midge” Cunningham; sister-in-law, Kimberly Broughton; and nephew, Henry Hieke.
