Two brothers from Lebanon county are on the ride of lifetime. They're biking hundreds of miles, all to raise awareness about the rare disease affecting their little brother.
“When somebody tells you he may not be here when he's 16 or 17, that's tough,” said Perlita Hains.
Perlita and Gordy Hains' youngest son, Levi, was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy when he was just two years old.
Levi is now eleven, and just months ago, he lost his ability to walk. But that hasn't broken his spirit...
He's surrounded by people who think the world of him.
So much so, that Luke and Lance are biking more than 600 miles from D.C. to Boston in Levi's honor.
“I love that kid,” said Levi’s brother Luke. “I'm riding every day, and I always think about him.”
The "Duchenne Jett-Ride" raises awareness about the disease that's slowly causing Levi’s muscles to waste away.
It raises funds for research so that maybe someday, this rare disease won't affect families like the Hains.
Luke and Lance expect to reach Boston by the end July.
