Local farm bureau director recognized for membership growth

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Farm Bureau recently recognized Kayla Richards, organization director for Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky and Wood counties, for her outstanding efforts in the 2019 Farm Bureau membership campaign.

Richards added 240 members in her territory, contributing to a final tally for statewide membership gain of 107.2%, year over year.

“The organization director is critical to the success of the membership campaign in each county,” said Paul Lyons, Ohio Farm Bureau’s vice president of membership. “They provide support and motivation to the county membership coordinators and their dedicated teams of volunteers that invite their family, friends, neighbors and local businesses to join them as a member of our organization. Riverview Healthcare improving all areas of facility

OAK HARBOR -  The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services along with Ohio legislators identified the importance of measuring resident and family satisfaction in regard to how well skilled nursing facilities provided care and services to their residents. They felt quality of care and services were so important, they established statewide thresholds. If a facility met or exceeded these thresholds, it was to be rewarded with additional money per day for the residents.

While no longer attached to the reimbursement, the Ohio Department of Aging continues to conduct these satisfaction surveys — residents on odd years and families on even years.

At Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus (Nursing Home), staffers work very diligently on continuing to further improve all areas of the facility. This survey has become one of the tools used to determine how well Riverview is doing. Riverview continues to encourage residents to make choices and has improved the facility’s processes as well as education to the staff on improvement in service.

The 2018 Family Satisfaction Survey eesults were recently released to the public on the state’s Long Term Care Consumer Guide website. Riverview obtained an overall satisfaction rating of 86.2%, above the state average of 77.8%. The facility had the highest satisfaction ratings in Ottawa County.

Riverview scored above the state average and the other nursing homes in Ottawa County in all categories of the survey. Some of the highlights of the survey: 92.9% of families said they “would highly recommend this nursing home to a family member or friend,” above the state average of 74.3%. On “Does the staff seem happy to work at the nursing home?” Riverview rated 90.6%, above the state average of 72.3%. “Do the staff go above and beyond to give your resident a good life?” Riverview rated 90.6%, above the state average of 72.2%.
