BAFTA's Memorial montage left out the late Dame Diana Rigg yesterday (April 11).

Dame Diana's credits include the 1969 James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service and HBO's mega hit Game of Thrones, playing Countess Teresa di Vicenzo and Olenna Tyrell (aka the Queen of Thorns) respectively.

She was also well known for her role as Emma Peel in The Avengers, and had a theatre career spanning six decades.

After some negative reaction to Dame Diana's omission from the memorial montage surfaced on social media, BAFTA explained why this decision had been made.

"With limited time available for obituaries within the broadcast, it isn't possible to honour all those who have sadly passed away," its statement read.

"BAFTA's committee considered Dame Diana Rigg to be better known for her work in TV so she will be included in BAFTA's TV Awards broadcast this year.

Over on Twitter, fans weren't at all pleased, with one writing: "Was a disgrace that @BAFTA missed Diana Rigg [and] Honor Blackman from in memoriam.

"2 iconic actresses from the 60s and starred in 2 of the most highly thought of Bond films and many others. These were MOVIE stars not only television stars!"

"They really just forgot Diana Rigg in the memorial section, huh?" added a second, before a third person tweeted: "@BAFTA what about the late great Diana Rigg in your tribute to all that have left us?"
