The development team at ArenaNet, publisher NCSoft and their partner company KongZhong announce that just as Guild Wars 2 is set to launch in China on May 15, they are also ready to reveal that the next big event for the MMO world is the Festival of the Four Winds, which should be offered on May 20 in North America and in Europe.

The companies are saying that this is the first global update for the title and that it is designed to introduce a lot more content for players to explore.

Mike O’Brien, the leader of the team at ArenaNet working on Guild Wars 2, states, “We wanted to provide the best possible MMO experience for Chinese players, so we joined forces with KongZhong, an ambitious partner who shared our passion for quality.”

He adds, “Together we've spent eighteen months preparing – meeting with Chinese players and guild leaders to get their feedback, and working on every little detail of the game. Finally we're ready to open our arms and join with China as one global community.”

The Festival of the Four Winds for Guild Wars 2 will include the return of the Zephyrites as trading partners for Lion’s Arch, which has been the setting for some tragic events lately.

Gamers will be able to take part in special challenges and other activities that allow them to get the funds that the rebuilding process will require in the long term.

The gauntlet of Queen Jennah is also set to return to Guild Wars 2 and new enemies are being added to keep the experience fresh and interesting.

The Chinese version of the MMO will offer the exact same content as it does in the West, with a delay of just a few days, required for the localization effort.

ArenNet, NCSoft and KongZhong have carefully translated the game and tweaked the mechanics to appeal to local gamers and all those interested in the title can pick up one of the editions that will be offered starting tomorrow.

Official launch will take place on May 15 at 10:18 AM Beijing time.

The Chinese Guild Wars 2 package can be seen in the attached image and gamers need to purchase the digital or the physical versions in order to get unlimited access to the MMO.

ArenaNet has said that it plans to offer long-term support for its title and that it has a lot more stories linked to its universe to tell.
