French actress and activist Brigitte Bardot’s former home in the French countryside near Cannes is officially on the market for $6.49 million. According to The Observer, the Côte d’Azur estate, known as Le Castelet, was originally built in the 13th century but underwent a major renovation between 1998 and 2011.

Bardot herself lived in the mansion for a few years in the late 1950s following her divorce from film director Roger Vadim; she considered the home a summer retreat and reportedly hoped to purchase the place but never did. Her mother reportedly persuaded her to buy a château in St.-Tropez instead. The grounds of Bardot’s onetime vacation home, measuring 1.46 acres, feature a stunning 6,458-square-foot main stone house, featuring eight bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms. There is also a five-bedroom guest house, a pool house, and a studio, as well as a wine grotto, a hammam with multiple pools, and vineyards.

The home has been renovated but maintains a rustic vibe.

The main house stands an impressive four stories tall, with an elevator connecting the levels. Inside, there are period hardwood and stonework details throughout, and many of the rooms boast rustic exposed wood beams that lend a historic charm to the space. The formal living room even has an original Louis XIV fireplace, with French doors that open out onto the backyard terrace. The kitchen, also situated on the main floor, is connected to a dining area with a candle chandelier. One floor up, the master suite has its own private library, fireplace, and private terrace accessible through a whole wall of glass doors. Outdoors, the home is perfect for entertaining, with two levels of stone decks, an infinity pool with a spa, an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, and a massive table that can fit up to 60 people.
