Vermont State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Sunday night in Hartford.

The incident began around 7:30 last night when Hartford police responded to a call of a domestic assault with shots fired at Quechee West Hartford Road.

Police say a man armed with shotgun was walking around near the residence. The man refused to put his gun down and a state trooper fired at him once. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No one else was hurt. 

The names of those involved are being withheld as the investigation continues. The trooper who shot the man will be on paid administrative leave for a minimum of five days. The road between Winding Brook Lane and Howard Road is closed until further notice with police telling MyChampliainValley.com the closure will last for the rest of the day at least.
